Women’s Giving

About Women's Giving

Women's gifts now account for over 17% of our annual campaign. By giving a gift in your own name, you embrace an identity that is distinct and independent from that of another family member. Pledge online and help JUF serve millions of women around the world.

Why Give?

  • Making a gift is a way of being heard beyond the Jewish community.
    • Politicians frequently consider the number of donors when assessing support for Israel and local Federations.
    • One gift made by a husband and wife counts as one donor, a separate gift in your own name counts as an additional donor.
    • We can double our power in the larger community by making separate gifts.
  • We are individuals and have the right to express our own commitment to Jewish life by making our own pledge.
  • Women are asserting themselves more in business, the professions, the arts and the voting booth and should not abdicate responsibility in this vital area of compassion and humanity. Tzedakah is a mitzvah, a personal obligation; no one else can perform a mitzvah on behalf of another.
  • We are proud of the ever increasing number of women in key community leadership positions.  Money is influence; it gives you a voice and a place at the table. By giving a meaningful gift in your own name, you can enhance your credibility as a policy-setter and decision-maker.
  • Separate giving acknowledges social and economic realities.
    • Of married Jewish women, 56% work for pay.
    • Of women under age 44, 70% are employed outside the home.
    • Women own 60% of the wealth in this country and run 60% of family foundations.
