Mitzvah Calendars

Mitzvah ManiaMitzvah Manias are seasonal lists of one-time volunteer opportunities. Sign up and commit to one project at a time. There is no long term obligation. Mitzvah Manias take place in fall, winter and spring, offer many holiday related projects, and are the perfect opportunity for individuals, families, groups and teens to perform the mitzvah of tikkun olam in the greater Chicagoland area.

Merry Mitzvot

Merry Mitzvot takes place during the weeks surrounding Thanksgiving, Chanukah, Christmas and the New Year. During Merry Mitzvot, TOV collaborates with many local organizations to help people in need during the holiday season.

  • In 2007, close to 700 volunteers participated in 42 projects.
  • As part of Merry Mitzvot TOV collected new cleaning supplies and travel-size toiletries to benefit the clients of local social service agencies.

Spring Mitzvah Mania

Spring Mitzvah Mania takes place during the weeks surrounding Passover, Easter, Yom Hashoah, Earth Day, Mother's Day and Yom Ha'atzmaut.

  • Every spring TOV collects thousands of new and gently used children’s books to donate to JUF TOV Literacy Project schools and other Chicago area social service agencies.

Green Mitzvah Mania

In an effort to explore new areas of volunteerism and to uphold the Jewish values of environmentalism and tikkun olam, the JUF TOV Volunteer Network proudly introduced Green Mitzvah Mania, a new calendar of eco-friendly one-time volunteer opportunities.

Fall Mitzvah Mania
